…Where do I start?

I think that there is so much to say that for now I would just like to thank everyone for their love and support. Evan read your comments and kind words to me, constantly updating me.

He has done a magnificent job of blogging for me considering he was in the middle of a house move! I am SO proud of him!!!!!

Yes, he did bring me a beautiful silk flower arrangement with some of my favourite flowers in – white lilies for Mothers’ Day.

David has been just amazing too…caring for me, motivating me, especially during the first couple of days when I have to admit I did feel a little rubbish.It is so hard to find the words to express myself fully.

Since we have been home he has been so vigilant with regards reducing infection risk and for my part I am trying my best to be a good patient and not a nuisance (for once!)

Again, my two men are my rocks. I could not have done this without them.

We are all still trying to ‘get our heads’ around what has happened…so surreal but one is absolutely sure…THIS WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN POSSIBLE WERE IT NOT FOR THE SHEER BRAVERY OF THE DONOR AND FAMILY.

What a journey…I keep being reminded that it is still early days and the first year quite delicate but I am going to make the most of every moment as my strength and fitness improves…

…Anyway back to my exercises!!!!!

Again, thank you all for being there, it really does help.

Discharge

If mum lived closer, she’d be discharged today. However, due to the daily tests they’ve put her and dad in a self contained flat.

Coming up to 3 weeks since the operation. Quite astonishing.

Small bump on a big road

MotherHen had her first biopsy yesterday. Unfortunately, she has to go back on the IV steroids and isolation/no visitors, with constant nursing.

However

She had a bacon sandwich this morning. Wahoo!

Going up early tomorrow morning/tonight maybe, for the first time in a few weeks.

No news is good news

I’ve been extremely busy and am utterly exhausted from moving and dealing with horrendous side effects et al.

However, ill be going up on Saturday night for the first time in two weeks.
She’s doing great, still going to the gym, using a bike trainer and as far as I can remember she has everything out! Except the temporary pacemaker leads which have to stay in for approx 3 weeks (just in case, I imagine).

Now my problem is – if I can’t take flowers up, what on earth do I do for mothers’ day?! Is it too early for champers?! Help!

Mother hen has had almost all tubes and drips removed bar one. She still has some plumbing in her neck, though nothing is attached.
They’re hoping to remove it tomorrow.

She’s knitting. She’s pacing (and jog has been used in a sentence)and eating good solid meals. Dad went in today and said she looks 10 years younger. Which will be strange considering my age ~~sorry mum~~
Unfortunately I have been told California is now cancelled, though from my point of view, it’s a little sacrifice..

I shall be going up to their house tomorrow and sorting post, if there are any card-shaped envelopes I’ll keep them sealed and take them up on the 9th..

Everything is going fine. She’s had some – if not all – drains out, which still at an early stage, is very impressive.

Today she has been walking. Yes – walking!! With help of course, but blimey, she really will be running the ~200+ miles back!

There have been a lot of posts, comments and likes with thanks from LLTGL, and are probably going to hit the media up soon.

And to those who have written a message, both Amanda, David, and I are grateful, and they do get read out to her. Here’s LLTGL’s Facebook post.

I’ll be updating/writing a new post this evening to see what’s been happening.

What’s going on..

Well, how can I start.
She is doing absolutely amazing. She got taken off life support around 6 hours after the operation. She’s now breathing, and coughing on her own. The physio has been and she’s
Started with her legs and breathing. She’s on pain relief however it’s a low dose. We’ve been able to hold a few conversations, and is alert to talk when she needs to. They are planning on moving her to post-transplant ward either tomorrow or Monday!
Doctors are stunned at how well she is doing, as are we.

Transplant Call

Received call at approx. 8:30am this morning to say ambulance is on its way.
We are en route, will update to say wether the operation has gone ahead (or not).
